Friday Five - Halloween Fun
Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, 5:23 p.m.

QUESTION: Boo or Boop-Boop-A-Doop?

WHAT I LEARNED: Betty Boop does have a place in modern society.

1. What was your first Halloween costume?

Ill have to call my mom on this one.

2. What was your best costume and why?

Dressing up in college like a flapper from the roaring 20's was probably my best and favorite costume. The whole look is jazzy, flirty, fun and easy to pull together. I looked darn cute as a flapper, let me tell you.

3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat?

No, theres lots of treats so why waste time on tricks.

4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.)

We carve a big pumpkin into the best pumpkin face we can manage and then bake the seeds in the oven with a lot of salt. Cleaning pumpkin seeds is not a favorite task of mine but I do love holiday-driven activity. Sometimes we actually eat some of the salty seeds.

5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend!

A friend of mine told me that there was a nearby graveyard a little back from the road that was almost like a catacomb or sunken mausoleum that they had seen about 20 years ago. It had crypts built into the wall and some of the graves were civil war era. Sometimes kids would crawl down into this crypt to party and hang out. There was a church nearby. Many years later my friend drove by the church and stopped to look for the sunken underground graveyard only to find that it was gone and the church had expanded their grounds. When he inquired about the graves he was told that there had never been a graveyard on those grounds. I hope they remember what happened to those people in Poltergeist.
