Coffee Break for Fire Fighters

QUESTION: What'd I miss?
WHAT I LEARNED: Most everyone likes coffee.
Even firefighters need their coffee as my daughter informs me after seeing a fire truck pull up to the local Starbucks, the firemen pour into the establishment for coffee - all kinds - and then exit out of the shop and hop back onto the fire truck - caffinated - and ready to fight any fire that comes their way. Hurray for coffee! I'm sorry I missed seeing that coffee run.
This story hold a special place in my heart at this moment in time because I am being deprived of my coffee today. In fact, I am on a diet that will not allow me to have a drop of a delightful lattes for 3 days while I jump start my metabolism or some such thing. To add insult to injury, my daughter asked me to make her a delicious espresso beverage with our new espresso machine while I am on this latte-less eating regime. This was sheer torture. The delicious smell was everywhere but there was no coffee drink for mom at the end of the process. Just that delicious odor filling the house.
Later on I had a simple dinner of salad, chicken, and a big glass of water for dinner. I'd like to say I felt virtuous but really it just made my head hurt. I made 2 cups of tea but it's not the same thing. So, I'm packing up and going to bed. Uncaffinated. But disciplined. At least for the first 24 hours of this diet.
If anyone asks me to make them any sort of coffee beverage tomorrow there'll be hell to pay and that's a promise.
