The Un-Vote

QUESTION: What price popularity?
WHAT I LEARNED: Dreadful banner ads do take a toll.
If you read this diary regularly then you have probably noticed that I've removed the Diaryland 100 icon and links from my journal. I did this with regret because Suburban Island regularly ranked in the top ten and often in the top five on this top site list and it was fun to see the diary do so well week after week. Unfortunately, the commercial banner ads running at the site have moved further and further along the adult-only continuum. Since I believe that I have a broad range of readers from many different age groups including a number of younger readers, I have decided to stop participating in the list until the character of the sponsoring ads becomes more suitable for an all-ages audience. I do want to thank each and every person who voted so faithfully for Suburban Island while my diary was actively in the running on this top site list. You made Suburban Island a top contender every week on the list and I really appreciated your votes and the confidence you showed by them in my efforts as a diarist.
Now, instead of the vote buttons at the bottom of every entry, you will find links to my two blogs. So define your suburban strategy at Little Island: A weblog on suburban living, or take a mini-vacation and visit Perfect View: A weblog featuring beautiful, fascinating, and simply amusing webcams.
