You should be proud, because it is NO SMALL ACHIEVEMENT to have healthy teens, my dear. I used to work with an after-school youth program, and I think you should rejoice! Our oldest is 14, so we are getting into it now. I liked your advisements. Blessings!

Those are good rules, someone should write rules about being the adult child of your parents. I think I will. ;-)

Aw... you are a great mom. Maybe I should print the rules out for future reference. :-)

You had me right up until the point you quoted Paris Hilton, lol. But good advice on the teens!

This was a wonderful entry. Your words made me laugh and sigh (difficult to do at the same time.) As the mom of 2 "not teenagers anymore" I have one more item to add to your list: Adult children add a new joy to your life. You're so very glad that you never gave into the impulse to kill them!

So there's hope? I don't have to ship off my daughter before August? (She is already reminding us of the magic THIRTEEN that approaches.) I'm going to print out your list and save it. "Bake it and they will come" needs to be marketed on kitchen plaques. That's a gem.

I couldn't agree with you more. Being a parent is hard work, and there are times along the way that you feel like such a failure, but then BANG! After all the years of investing in the little critters, there comes a day when you see them emerge as the person you always knew they could become. The rewards are soooo rich!

I have to agree that food tastes so much better when Mom makes it. The thing is, Moms prepare the food with love. We the kids usually prepare it with haste and angst and gobble it down without a second thought. But after Mom graciously cooks and puts it on a nice plate and serves us a drink with it? Makes it special. But you knew that already. ;)
