I used to live a town like that, I always felt like I had died and gone to hell.

I love the details part at the end. Oh to sit and think and listen to music... argghhh sigh... One day that will be me. It sounds like even though it was a long drive you really did enjoy yourself today. Good for you!

I live in a smaller town than in your photos. While there's no denying its charms, now and then I want to go somewhere with a bit more sophistication than Wal Mart and a truck stop.

I really love the main street and the little movie theatre. That down sort of reminds me of Lanpasas, where some of my family lives. Its really nice there for a couple days but I would hate to LIVE there. I would die of boredom.

Those pictures are gorgeous! I love those car-ride conversations, too. There's something about a long drive that seems to inspire them. Thank you so much for your comment on my entry about writing. :)

That sounds like a wonderful relaxing day trip but I have to wonder how that house with all the missing planks is still standing! Thanks for your comment on my adventurous life. Most of the time it's boring but when it hits the fan it REALLY hits .. lol

My father and I used to go on 4-5 hour roadtrips. We'd get into the car, no destination in mind, and just see where we went. We would always talk, and/or listen to "his" music (that my mother declared too obnoxious for the house-- The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Zappa, etc). Those were some of the best times I had growing up-- I look back on those trips fondly. Just wanted to share this kind of experience from the kid's point of view! :)

I love small towns. As a matter of fact I have been cruising around different small towns in the new area I work in during my lunch hour. My desire is to live in a small town like the ones in your photos. People I know who live in them are dying to get out.
