My grandmother who died this passed year had the same affinity for teddy bears and she was buried with the first and last ones she was given. I know they brought her joy in her last days. I don't have any stuffed animals, maybe that is what is wrong in my life? Beautiful Post, we thank you for it.

When I had my mastectomy, my brother bought me the most adoragle stuffed dog. For weeks after my surgery, I slept with it held to my chest. It seemed that it woud protect me. It did. I felt safer somehow.

When I was in preschool, I was terrified of my teacher, so my grandfather brought me an Ernie (sesame street) doll and Ernie and I had a nice long chat about why I was scared of preschool. My grandfather could totally mimic Ernie's voice. I still have the Ernie doll, in fact now I collect them, but that original Ernie went to college with me. Thanks for "reminding" me of that tale! :)

I definitely take comfort from a Winnie the Pooh bear I was given. When I'm sad, I'll grab him and hug him until I go to sleep. He sits on my headboard, waiting for the next time he can be of use.

What a thoughtful thing to do for your mum. I love teddy bears. I was crying a little with your story because you are such a thoughtful person. You didn't just buy her things that didn't mean a thing you put thought into it WAY TO GO.

Your thoughtfulness towards your mom is so great- I wish I thought of things like that! A good teddy bear is great to cuddle with at night, when you wake up with it still in your arms you know you had a good night's sleep!

You already know how I feel about Pete. :) That bear (the pic, not Pete) is the *cutest*! :) I'm sorry about your mom not feeling better as quickly as I'm sure she'd like. I hope she continues to heal, and I bet that bear is just the thing. Thanks for such a great entry. :)

I am also a Teddy Bear person. My classroom is full of them. When my Mom was dying she kept a hot water bottle with her at all times. It had a lambskin cover and she called it LAMBY. I had it creamated with her. I'm sorry to hear that your Mom had a stroke. I hope she is doing better now?
