OH, cute puppy! I am surprised he didn't toss out the old favorite, "when you have your own house, you can have a dozen dogs if you want to..."

Oh no! I can't believe he didn't give in. Poor daughter.

Little fluffy dogs with curly hair really are the best when you have allergies, and you're not going to get dog hair all over everything either. I did a lot of reading about dog breeds (after owning a chihuahua, heh) and the conclusion I was always brought to was if you want a small lap dog that won't bug your allergies, won't shed everywhere and is smart enough to be thoroughly housebroken then go for a miniature or toy poodle. Just for more ammo to use against your husband. :)

I have wanted a dog since birth, and I have the allergies, not Hubs. But I'm not ready yet to walk a dog every day, and he never will, he hates dogs (which is probably your husband's real reason anyway.) But I can dream, can't I? I sympathize with your daughter totally. And what kind of puppy was that, anyway? It is too perfect.

Awww My heart goes out to her! My daughter is not allowed to have one either per Dads demand. I always thought he would give in but he hasnt. My moms dog died last year and he said "see that is why we should never have a dog". He never admitted it before but he is a big ol softy and cant part with them. Not that that little bit of insight helped my poor puppyless daughter ; )

OOOOOOOH what an adorable creature! my daughter and I have been longing for a dog, too, but until I am done with my studies and travel a dog is out of the question! What a great entry!

For a very nice list of dander free and lower dander canines, visit: http://members.aol.com/AHTerrier/allergyb.html. Poor, poor daughter. :-(

I would make my own list and present it to hubby. Pros of owning a little dog over having a hubby: Little dogs eat much less. Little dogs fetch. Little dogs never complain. Little dogs don't watch sports on TV. Little dogs don't care about the TV remote. Little dogs will still love and kiss you when you are a)sick B)pms-ing or menopausaling (Made up word) C) having a bad hair day D) gaining weight. Little dogs lay down by their dish when so ordered. OK, cons: They don't hold a job. I do think the Pros win!

Hehehe, I like cosmicrayola's idea. I'm sorry your daughter didn't get the puppy, but I can see some of your husband's side of it, too. If you do have allergies, and depending on how responsible your daughter is, it really might be best if she waits until she's living on her own.

I'm an allergic dog lover. And, all I have to say is poodles and airedales are hypoallergenic, and come in all sizes...

There is one good reason not to get a dog. I love dogs so don't get me wrong. As a matter of fact I have two dogs but I own my own house. My daughter was in her last year of college when she got her dog. It's a handsome, nice dog but once she graduated she couldn't find a place that would rent to her that would accept a dog in our area. She's still living at her boyfriend's, father's house and looking into moving to a different state where she might be able to afford a house of her own.

I think as a punishment, your husband should have to meet your daughter at the door every night, wag his tail and bark with happiness!
