Your Dad really should apologize for his behavior. Will he? I agree with you that it is ok to disgaree but it is not ok to be rude about it. Sometimes we all have to agree to just disagree. I get in fights with my daughter all the time. Usually after I cool off I will apologize. The apology takes back some of the hurt, but there is never any taking back the words once they have been said, now is there?

It wouldn't make a difference to me which candidate you support. I don't like either of them, lol.

Grrrrr. I'm all mad now. He shouldn't have called you a fucking idiot or any other name. And your mom siding with that behavior makes me want to chew nails. But an eloquent entry.

Kerry vs. Bush. *snicker* I knew when I read yesterday's entry that some readers might jump to an incorrect conclusion about who was for which candidate. Among those friends and family members with whom I have discussed politics, I know of nobody who is an enthusiastic supporter of either candidate, although I am sure most of them have decided for which one they will cast an unenthusiastic ballot.

This is our lesson: "Free speech doesnt mean rude speech." You said it perfectly and this applies to every subject and situation. I'm sorry you're father said that to you. Words can be poison or, at least, scarring. Give yourself a hug and know you'll do better with your kids.

I think you are forgetting the Michael Moore Amendment to the Constitution - the freedom to be an asshole

Your dad is a trip. Thanks for the lovely entry. While I watched the debates in Idyllwild, I was drawn to a table of young people - completely glued to the set. I am just overjoyed that people want to VOTE again! Young people! Hoo-Rah! And....as always....thanks for the brain food. You do such a good job of feeding my soul.

Well, all I can say is, I taught my father a loooooooooooooong time ago, that I fight fire with fire. I've also learned some of the same things you have- I'll always be perpetually 10 years old, and I'll never, ever, ever win...

Political discussions are Not Allowed among our extended family. Too many passionate conservatives and liberals. When you stick to it, it works well. As for myself, I am in Tune Out mode. If it doesn't come from the candidates themselves, I don't want to hear it. I've gotten to the point where if a diarist starts yet another Bush-bashing entry, I stop reading. They have the right to say what they want, but I have the right to NOT read it!
