If memory serves me, when my kids were young it wouldn't have done any good for them to be in bed at 8:00 the night before the first day of school. They are usually too wound up in anticipation to sleep well anyway.

Wow. I can't believe there are still schools that open AFTER Labor Day. Our school system has been in session since the 24th. Seems a bit unfair somehow..LOL. Anyway, I like the back to school talk idea. I wish I had thought of that with my kids. It's three weeks into the year and I've yet to see his books.. Somehow I think he is lying about not having HW...HUM... Good luck to your son with his first year in high school.

Isn't it sad? My youngest is a junior this year - where does the time go? I wish I could transport them back in time because I loved being mommy when my kids were little. My son is going to school full time and working full time right now - I never get to see him!

As long as he doesn't mess up gym again this year, you're set. (and tell him if he doesn't get good grades, he's going to end up temping!

Ahh, school daze! The only thing left for me of school is trying to get to the new corduroys first before all the kids buy them! High School is such an interesting time. I think it's more to figure yourself out socially than to learn at times. Good luck to you! You may need it more than he does ... hehe

I'm glad someone is involved in their kid's life.

Your son isn't the only planning-challenged teenage male -- my 19yr male college student within the past year has managed to be startled that he can't suddenly decide he needs a haircut around dinnertime on a Saturday or that there is no point in going to a mall that is a good half hour drive away at six-thirty on a Sunday.
