Hi there! We have a similar bug around here in the summer- a type of June Bug, but it's an ugly, stiped beetle. They come out at night, hiss at you, and they stick in your hair if they land in it! Yikes. They have ruined a lot of summer nights for me. They have subsided somewhat around here. I've had fun looking at your extras, especially your Unkymoods, which I signed up for! Love, Leslie

What a great entry. I could picture your son perfectly. As I'm reading it's all I can do not to fall on the floor laughing. Michael looking at me strangely and thinking she's lost it again. Thanks for sharing.

My backyard is starting to have the cucada's as well... right now they are in the hatching stage but the sci-fi hum is there for sure deeper in the woods. I told the hubby when he asked if I could hear it "all I can hear is that bad sci-fi movie bug music" his reply "THAT'S IT!"

"What not to wear"? I wear my paintball mask everywhere. Trust me. The paintball mask is the new black.

I remember when I was a kid going to the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois during the last "cicada season". There were cicadas everywhere, to the point where you couldn't walk without the threat of slipping on their squished slime bodies on the ground, and the occassional crunch as you squished a still-alive one. They would clog the grill on the car, and the husks would be all over the trees looking like hollowed-out bees. *shudder* It was a long time ago, probably about, what, 17 years? But I can never forget it! I hate those dang things! *ugh*

Cicada season! There is nothing like it and the further south you go the worse it gets. Darth Vader it tow, I can only imagine. Thank you for not being the mom who lets their kids go outside in costumes. I hate that mom. When I was a teenager I had to take my cousin with me to the mall, dressed as Quasimodo. I still hate that kid and his mother.

You didn't see any cicada at the car show because they're all waiting for you at home! Rotten little buggers.
