Nice entry! Laughed until the rootbeer squirted, and I wasn't drinking rootbeer!

Oh, I've always been like that! If I see somebody "out of context," 90% of the time I have no clue who they are. Except that one time last year when I ran across an old school bus mate. But then, she seriously had NOT changed since she was 18, and they say you remember old things better than new things.

Oh my... lol... don't feel bad though. With my accent, something like that happens quite often. I had a neighbor named "Cramsey"... I couldn't pronounce it correctly if my life was depend on it...and always ended up saying.. "Clumsy". And another neigbor named "Tansil"(can't spell it either..lol)..I called "Tonsil". I am greatful in the US it is common to address people by their first names.

I will tell you the same thing I tell my residents where I work. They are all over 65 and every time they forget something, they will end the sentence with "I hate getting old, I forget everything." I tell them that we have always forgotten things, but you just don't notice it at 20, 30 or even 40. But that magical age of 50! Yes, I know it well, since last June. At 50, you start thinking about getting old and watching for the signs. You automatically blame everything, including forgetfulness on it. I don't anymore. I remember I was just as bad at 30 but back then, I called myself "ditzy", not old. Same/same.

Soeaking of "out of context" tonight at the grocery store I ran into a parent of one of my students. I didn't recognize her instantly, but figured it out in a few seconds. She introduced me to her mother (my student's grandmother) and said, "This is Shawn's teacher" and I am thinking... "Who the heck is Shawn?" It took me a minute to realize that they call him by his middle name. I'm glad I didn't correct her!

lol! I don't think being in or about our 50s has anything to do with it. It's the overload of information. Well, at least it sounds plausable.
