kudos to you! i'm very glad that you did the right thing. i have been there myself, and sometimes i /have/ gotten the item for free - but usually i have to pay. it feels good, and it's a great example to your children to see honesty in action.

When my husband and I were first married, living in Maine, we went to a cut your own $5 Christmas tree farm to get our tree. He found one he liked and chopped it down, then our way to the house to pay, he found an even nicer one and rejected the first one. When he went inside to pay, he gave the clerk a $20 bill and the (literally) mentally disabled clerk gave him two $5's and a $10 back. Seeing this, I made my husband give back the $5 for our tree, but I couldn't convince him to pay another $5 for the rejected tree.

Honesty is the best policy. And it does feel good when they reward you for it- even if it is just verbal.

You're one of 'those' people. The honest, worthy kind that make me re-think my views on humanity, that is. I love 'those' kinds of people. :) By the way, you've been on my favorites for a long time, I just updated all my comments today, *lol*.
