I love, love, love having my nails done. The conversations in Vietnamese were disconcerting for me, too, but now it just sounds like soft music. I love it, that I get to be there and not talk or be talked to, and just have time for myself.

I totally agree. Although manicures are a bit of a splurge for me, it's really nice to be able to zone out with out having to worry about anything. I also love the way manicure places smell--not nailpolish and remover and whatnot, but the entire smell. They're also fun because having a manicure just makes you feel so much more feminine and girly.

I like to make up my own dialogue for the manacurists when I get my nails done; it's half the entertainment! Plus, sometimes it's nicer when they don't speak english to you. Last time I got a pedicure the woman grinned at me and giggled "Oooh! Such little toes! Tiny little toes! Ha ha!" I wonder how that would sound in Vietnamese?
