Suburban Island

NYC

QUESTION: Where is Suburban?

WHAT I LEARNED: It's a big city out there.

I'm in NYC for business and have not been able to get to my journal for updates as usual. How have I been faring in the big apple? Well I'd sum it up this way - I've taken a couple bites out of the apple and the apple has taken a couple of bites out of me.

As can be imagined, I have had plenty of adventures already but have not been able to sit down at my computer and get them into my diary. And no high-speed access in this fancy hotel (at least on this particular floor) has really cramped my style. As does work itself. When you travel for work, the day expands and expands until you find yourself out until late at business functions - after working a full day that starts extra early - and finally coming back to your hotel room exhausted and capable of doing nothing more than flopping down on the bed with a $5 diet coke and the remote control.

I have accomplished a few of my NYC goals though including deli eating and some amazing shopping. Good food and good buys - this must be paradise. Now if I only had the time to enjoy it!

The next must-do on my list is to buy some cool NYC stuff for the kids (and perhaps something for myself as well) before a business dinner. I still have not had a cup of coffee so I am a bit worried about my shopping stamina - maybe that should be my first purchase.

I miss my regular Diaryland reads and look forward to catching up on them over the weekend.

DETAILS: Coffee:None sob + Listening to: traffic in the big city Observing: a busy world going about its business + Thinking: Where can I buy an Empire State Building statue? + Weather: got sunshine
