Suburban Island

It's Ruben
Thursday, May. 22, 2003, 2:06 p.m.

Question: Why can't I sing?

What I Learned: Sometimes everyone IS really a winner.

It's Ruben!

Well, that was fun and quite the close race. They both had great voices but I have to admit that Ruben got my vote in the end - it's the classic dimples/deep voice dividend. But let's not feel too sorry for Clay because let's face it - it's nice to be THE American Idol but the runner-up and even those a few steps down - are not going to have any problems ramping up their musical/show biz careers now.

Frankly, now that this American Idol fever has begun to lift, I find myself excited by the prospect of not being homebound or at least TV-attached come hell or high water twice a week. I don't know about you, but I am relieved to know that at least until the next highly addictive American Idol offering, I have my Tuesday and Wednesday nights back again.

American Idol really put a strain on Wednesday piano lessons nights. Luckily, I was able to stick my husband with the duty of pressing the record button - if the tape was in and cued. After all, I am doing the piano trek every week. Still, it was tense because although he did always press that record button, there was always that little nagging concern...

I am also glad that the whole push-button/tape-American-Idol thing worked out because I still don't know how to program the VCR - even though we got it last Christmas. That's another near miss with home technology neatly avoided.

DETAILS: Coffee: white chocolate mocha + Listening to: sound of fake underwater adventure on screensaver + Observing: more spreadsheets + Weather: More of the damp and dreary sort + Watching: Nothing!

Got a cat?
